How does Hero Power make money?

Hero Power doesn’t purchase electricity from ComEd. Like ComEd, we buy electricity from the energy market to power your home. Since it’s impossible to send clean energy electrons directly to your home, we also purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to match 100% of your electricity consumption. ComEd matches ONLY 6% with RECs.

You still pay your ComEd bill every month, just like you always have. ComEd pays us for the supply portion of your bill, and we’ll use that money to buy your electricity and the appropriate number of Renewable Energy Certificates.
